My Ode To Joe
End of Watch
A soldier is on mission
Which bears the nation’s pain.
They take our grief to give us peace
They neutralize our bane.
They help us fly our flag so proud
For which the world can see.
We are a nation built as one
Where freedom’s meant to be.
Our armed forces are important
Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.
On the front lines they have lived
They’ve fought for all our dreams.
There are others that work in kind
To hold our nation true.
Behind the lines at home
Stand our officers in blue.
They guard our streets and walk the beats
Within the country’s border.
To protect us here at home
From all mayhem out of order.
They keep our nation’s rules
Show courage above their fear.
To keep our founders’ words
Safe, sound and clear.
They answer to our calls for help
And keep the peace on queue.
Their jobs are tough, yet so are they
The men and women in blue.
They see the color that others won’t
It is not the black and white of skin;
But the grey that lies within some souls
Where kindness should have been.
When the officers in blue
Meet the God to whom they prayed.
Archangel Michael will be at their side
His peace upon them laid.
As he calls them His descendants
He holds their hands so dear.
Thanks them for their service
And takes away their fear.
God welcomes them to heaven
As He tells them to At Ease.
For they did His work on earth
With which He was quite pleased.
He acknowledged their devotion,
“To my word you have been true.
By Saint Michael you will sit
My Patriots in blue.”
